A New Best Friend from Waffles’ Point of View

Hi there! My name’s Waffles, and I’m the fluffiest, bounciest, and most curious little poodle you’ll ever meet! My fur is curly, my tail is always wagging, and I’ve got this adorable gray patch above my eye that everyone seems to love. But enough about me—let me tell you about the day I met my best friend, Grace.

It all started in a cozy house with the best smells. I was inside a little box (can you believe that?) with holes so I could peek out. I could hear voices, one soft and gentle, and another smaller one that made me perk up. “A surprise?” asked the smaller voice. Oh boy, I LOVE surprises! My tail started wagging like crazy because I just knew this was going to be something fun.

When the box opened, there she was—Grace! She had the sweetest smile and the kindest eyes, even though she looked a little nervous. I could tell right away she needed a friend, and guess what? So did I! I wiggled and wagged and tried to say, “Hi, Grace!” with my happiest “Woof! Woof!”

At first, Grace wasn’t so sure about me. I get it; I can be a bit bouncy. But I grabbed a toy and brought it to her. That always works, right? She didn’t play right away, but I wasn’t giving up. I nudged her hand with my nose and wagged my tail so hard it made my whole body wiggle. And then it happened—she smiled! She even said, “Hi, Waffles.” Oh, I knew we were going to be best friends.

Over the next few days, we had the BEST time. Grace threw a ball for me in the backyard, and I zoomed after it like lightning. “You’re so fast, Waffles!” she said, laughing. Her laugh is the best sound ever. I also got to be her drawing buddy. I sat beside her while she made pictures of us. She’s pretty good at capturing my good side, if I do say so myself!

One day, I got covered in dirt from all our outdoor adventures. Grace said it was bath time. I wasn’t so sure about that, but Grace made the water nice and warm. She laughed and said, “You’re such a fluffy mess, Waffles!” I didn’t love getting wet, but I loved how Grace dried me off and wrapped me in a soft towel. She’s the best at making me feel cozy.

We even went to the park, where I met new doggy friends and Grace met some kids named Emma and Max. At first, Grace was a little shy, but I’m an expert at making new friends. I ran over to say hi, and soon enough, Grace joined in on the fun. She played tag with the kids while I raced around with a goofy golden retriever named Ollie. By the end of the day, Grace and I were both so tired, but we were so happy, too.

Now, every day is an adventure with Grace. Whether we’re playing, snuggling, or just being silly together, she’s my favorite person in the whole wide world. And you know what? I think I’m hers, too.

So that’s the story of how Grace and I became best friends. Want to hear more about our adventures? Stick around, because there’s always something exciting happening in our world. And remember—a wagging tail and a little courage can make every day better!
